Nassda's Full-Chip Co-Simulation Solution Adopted by Aeluros for 10 Gbps Physical-Layer Devices
Aeluros Engineers Verify High-Performance Mixed-Signal Designs for Communications and Computing Applications
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nassda(TM) Corporation today announced that Aeluros, Inc. has adopted Nassda's HSIM(TM) hierarchical circuit simulator and analysis tool for verification of physical layer integrated circuits for the 10 Gigabit networking and storage marketplaces. Aeluros is a fabless semiconductor company providing serial, high-performance, high-density physical layer (PHY) solutions in mainstream CMOS technology.
"We are committed to delivering analog-intensive mixed-signal CMOS physical layer solutions with superior performance, power and price characteristics," said Richard Egan, CEO of Aeluros. "Our Puma devices provide the high performance needed for 10 Gigabit systems at half the power of competing solutions. To maintain our technical lead in 10 Gbps markets, we use next generation design tools such as Nassda's HSIM that help ensure our strict requirements are being met before manufacture."
"We were looking for a solution that would allow us to simulate our sensitive clock and data recovery (CDR) circuits together with the large synthesized logic blocks that they drive," said Don Stark, vice-president of engineering at Aeluros. "These simulations would have been prohibitively slow with SPICE, but the speed and accuracy of HSIM allowed us to verify our entire CDR system at once, ensuring that it met our power and speed goals. Furthermore, Nassda's support team was excellent and they were very responsive to our issues."
"As companies such as Aeluros develop lower-power and higher-speed designs, they need a new generation of simulation tools to handle their increasingly complex verification requirements," said Sang Wang, CEO of Nassda. "We're pleased to work with Aeluros in providing the simulation capabilities needed to verify the performance of its complex mixed-signal designs."
About HSIM
HSIM provides detailed circuit-level analysis of timing and power behavior and signal integrity effects. It solves the critical issue of analyzing circuit behavior while taking into account the electrical and parasitic effects of nanometer-scale silicon. It is ideal for demanding analog, memory, mixed-signal and system-on-chip designs.
About Aeluros
Aeluros, founded by a team of high-speed design experts with a unique understanding of the intricacies involved in building highly integrated 10 Gbps devices, is a leading developer of high-integration, high-speed CMOS based serial I/O devices. The company's technical and business management team has collectively delivered among the industry's highest volume and technically challenging mixed signal designs. The privately held company has secured a first round of funding from leading venture capital firms New Enterprise Associates and Worldview Technology Partners.
